Executive Vice President & Chief Operations Officer, East Penn Manufacturing, United States
The growing demand for energy storage, driven by the increasing deployment of renewable energy sources, presents both opportunities and challenges for the energy storage industry. Modern drivetrains and the increased adoption of AGM batteries offers another attractive growth opportunity for lead based batteries. However, rising antimony prices and supply chain uncertainties, coupled with global tariff challenges, create additional complexities for battery manufacturers. To remain competitive, companies must adopt flexible strategies, focusing on innovative approaches, diversification of material sources, and localization of supply chains. Developing long-term, scenario-based strategies and investing in research and development will be critical for staying ahead in this evolving market. This presentation explores the dynamics of the lead battery market and presents strategic recommendations for addressing emerging challenges while capitalizing on growth opportunities.
