Moura batteries new recycling facility project

With over 40 years of expertise in Reverse Logistics, the Moura Group has established sustainability as a core pillar of its management strategy. Our recycling capacity has reached a 1:1 ratio—we collect 100% of the batteries sold—and all recycled lead is reintegrated into the production of batteries for various applications. This closed-loop model reinforces our leadership in the Mercosur battery market. Our expertise is backed by a robust infrastructure, including 91 distribution centers across South America, ensuring the efficient collection and responsible reuse of batteries through the Moura Environmental Program (PAM).

At the ILA event in Amsterdam, Flávio Bruno, Director of Metals, Procurement, and Sustainability at the Moura Group, will present a significant milestone in this journey: the launch of our new recycling and metals processing plant. Developed and implemented over the past five years, this project incorporates cutting-edge technologies and innovations in metallurgical processes.

Starting operations in 2024, this state-of-the-art facility is founded on two key pillars—sustainability and competitiveness—and features several industry-leading advancements, including:

• Acid recycling, enhancing environmental efficiency;
• Excellence in metal separation, ensuring high purity and optimal material reuse;
• Optimized facility layout, maximizing operational efficiency;
• Automated processes, improving safety and productivity;
• Negative pressure systems, minimizing emissions and environmental impact.
