Looking at the control options available to reduce exposures to lead dust and fumes in the manufacturing environment to minimise operator exposure.

The talk will look at local exhaust ventilation hood effectiveness and the selection process, filtration requirements including potential explosive atmosphere protection and discharge arrangement.

Bio

Mechanical Building Services Engineer with over 35 years’ experience in the industry as consultant and contractor including several years working for an industrial fan manufacturer.

Started Vent-Tech in 2001, specializing in the design, installation, testing and commissioning of specialist Local Exhaust Ventilation systems.

Take a leading role in the writing of BESA CIBSE TR40 LEV Guide to Good Practice and Chaired LEV Industry Forum committee who produced the LEV Competency Matrix. Also chaired the ILEVE Technical Committee producing guidance for the Commissioning and Thorough Examination and Testing of LEV Systems. Also notable contribution to BESA TR19 Air & BSi standards.

A regular presenter at events and conferences both in the UK for organisations such as SHEP, BOHS, BESA and ILEVE and further afield for both SAIOH and AIOH.

o British Occupational Hygiene Society - Certificate of Competence in Control of Hazardous Substances – 2013
o Society of Operations Engineers – Plant Engineer of the Year - 2015.

Day to day activities include:

o Expert witness legal work for cases involving exposure to hazardous substances
o Consultancy and design of LEV solutions and system fault diagnosis
o Providing impartial advice on proposal assessments
o Training and mentoring of new LEV practitioners

Currently hold the following positions with industry institutions:

o Council member for Building Engineering and Services Association.
o Acting Chair of The LEV Association

Adrian is an accredited examiner and tutor for the British Occupational Hygiene Society LEV P’Cert Courses and has delivered courses either in person or via remote access in many parts of the world including UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Chile, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
